Autobahn was founded in 1989 on Tyne Mills Industrial Estate, Hexham.
We quickly outgrew these modest premises, and in 1996, moved to our current site on Haugh Lane Industrial Estate
Although initially we were purely BMW, due to increasing demand we gradually moved into the service and repair of Audi, Volkswagen and Mercedes.
Our modern workshop is equipped with the latest diagnostic and fault code reading equipment enabling us to keep abreast of the latest systems.
The workshop is supported by a comprehensive parts department to ensure a quick turn around of most repairs.
Our current labour rate is approximately half the rate that local main dealers charge.
Autobahn is owned and run by three partners :-
Jim Kennedy - co founder, has over 40 years experience in all makes of car, particularly BMW the wise old man of the firm!
Robbie Barron - workshop manager, was Jim Kennedy’s apprentice at Fawdington BMW (Stagshaw). He stayed with Fawdintons for 21 years, workshop foreman at Newcastle for 14 years before joining Autobahn in 1998.
Steve Spicer - founded Autobahn with Jim Kennedy, now responsible for car sales but still gets his hands dirty in the workshop from time to time!
